Ferrari To Team Up With AF Corse For Its Le Mans Hypercar Program

Written by admin

Ferrari will partner with AF Corse for its Le Mans Hypercar program set to launch in 2023.

AF Corse has fielded various Ferraris in sports car racing since 2012 and secured no less than three Le Mans 24 Hours wins and five WEC GTE Manufacturers’ titles. Ferrari, therefore, believes partnering with AF Corse is the best way to ensure success in the Hypercar series.

“Today’s announcement is an important step towards the debut of our LMH in the World Endurance Championship,” head of Ferrari Attività Sportive GT, Antonello Coletta, said in a statement. “We are happy to have a reliable partner like AF Corse with us for this project. Ferrari and AF Corse have enjoyed a solid relationship for a long time, as you can see in the FIA WEC, where we run our official 488 GTEs together with the Piacenza-based team. We look forward to continuing together on a journey as rewarding as the years of racing cooperation to date.”

“We are proud of this announcement,” added AF Corse team owner Amato Ferrari. “It is the crowning of a dream and recognition of the great effort made over the years. Our partnership with Ferrari is a winning one that began in 2006, and I am delighted to continue it in the LMH project.”

This year’s Le Mans Hypercar championship is shaping up to be very exciting with Toyota, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, and an Alpine-sponsored effort from Signatech racing together. They will be joined by Peugeot in 2022, while Ferrari, Audi, Porsche and Acura will enter the series in 2023. According to Racer, the likes of Cadillac, Lamborghini, Bentley and BMW may also compete in the new championship.

World’s Blackest Ferrari SF90 Stradale “Vantablack” Looks A Real Life Cartoon

Written by admin

Ferrari must have thought the SF90 looks too shiny, so they gave it a Vantablack (or so it appears) finish. At least that’s what we think, because this video, shot in Maranello, Italy, which is the home of the Prancing Horse, shows the supercar wearing the blackest of black colors.

If this is indeed Vantablack that was introduced in 2014 by Surrey NanoSystems, it’s capable of absorbing 99.965 percent of light. This makes 3D objects look as if they were 2D, and one of the first (or perhaps ‘the’ first) vehicle painted in Vantablack was a BMW X6 two years ago.

Review: The SF90 Stradale Is Unlike Any Other Ferrari Ever Built

Since then, we have seen other cars, like the Mitsubishi Lancer, wear this strange yet captivating paint finish, and this SF90 is, from what we know, the first real exotic dressed in it. So, what do we have here? One explanation is this is a one-off commissioned by a customer. There is also the possibility that Ferrari might be testing it for possible future implementation or the expansion of its color palette.

As for the SF90 Stradale, it entered production in 2019 as the Italian firm’s first plug-in hybrid supercar. It uses an electrified powertrain that combines the company’s turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, rated at 769 HP and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque, with three electric motors and a new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The total output of 986 HP rockets it to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.5 seconds and up to 211 mph (340 km/h). It also has a maximum all-electric range of 15.5 miles (25 km).

Glorious Past Meets High-Tech Present In Ferrari F40 Vs. McLaren P1 Race

Written by admin

We never thought we’d say this, but a quarter-mile sprint isn’t always about the result; sometimes it is about the journey.

The Ferrari F40 and McLaren P1 are separated by almost three decades of engineering, so we all know which one got to see the chequered flag first.

The F40 is one of the most iconic models to have ever come out. It was the last Ferrari approved by Enzo himself and it hit the assembly line in 1987, succeeding the 288 GTO. A little over 1,300 units were made until 1992, when production ended.

The twin turbocharged, 2.9-liter V8 produced 471-horsepower and 426 pound-feet (577 Nm) of torque, driving the rear wheels though a five-speed manual transmission. It can hit 201 mph (323 km/h) and the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint is impressive even by today’s standards, as it takes just a little over 4 seconds.

Although it seems like yesterday we first laid eyes on the P1, McLaren’s hypercar is already seven years old. Nevertheless, it is still mighty powerful and fast.

Power is supplied by a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 and an in-house developed electric motor, for a total output of 903 HP and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. The 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint is dealt with in 2.8 seconds and top speed is 217 mph (350 km/h).

So, if you won the lottery and had to choose between the two, which one would you go for and why?

McLaren 720S, Lamborghini Huracan, Ferrari 812 And Ferrari 488 Pista Engage In Battle Royale

Written by admin

Supercars are getting ever faster and the cars featured in this particular clip all offer truly frightening levels of acceleration. However, which of them is the fastest?

To find out, YouTuber 888MF teamed up with BOTB in the UK for a series of drag races. The cars featured are a pair of McLaren 720S’ (one fitted with an aftermarket exhaust), a Ferrari 488 Pista, a Lamborghini Huracan Performante, and a Ferrari 812 Superfast.

Kicking things off is a race between the Lamborghini and the 488 Pista. Thanks to its all-wheel drive system, the Huracan gets off the line quicker but because it has less power, the Ferrari storms past it before the finish line.

In the second race, the victorious 488 Pista lines up against the 812 Superfast and, despite being one tier lower in Ferrari’s hierarchy, the twin-turbocharged V8 488 out-accelerated the V12-powered grand tourer.

Then it was the turn of the McLarens, which lined up alongside each other and the 488 Pista for a battle of supremacy. During both races, the owner of the 720S with the aftermarket exhaust rocketed off the line much quicker than his rivals and came out the victor.

However, things don’t end there as a surprise competitor then joins the party in the form of a Porsche Taycan Turbo S. The all-electric super saloon has established itself as one of the most accelerative vehicles on the planet and can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in under 2.5 seconds. The question is, is that enough to upstage the 720S?

Dutch Police Find Stolen Ferrari Mondial Sitting In A Canal For Nearly Three Decades

Written by admin

A 1987 Ferrari Mondial that was stolen in the Netherlands back in 1994 has been recovered after potentially spending as long as 26 years in one of the city’s many waterways.

Local media reports that the Mondial was first found by Dutch fire brigade divers on a training exercise in Amsterdam’s IJ waterway in June. Police were notified of the strange discovery on June 17 and they organized their own dive on June 29. After encountering some issues in recovering the vehicle, the Ministry of Defense was called in to provide assistance and on July 8, the Italian sports car was pulled up from the waterway.

Before long, authorities were able to determine that this was the missing Mondial from the 1994 case. What they haven’t been able to determine is just how long the Ferrari was at the bottom of the waterway. Regardless of whether or not it has been there for the full 26 years it has been missing, it has been utterly destroyed and rusted by the water.

Police were not able to find any evidence in the vehicle that could point them towards the perpetrators but did conclude that no violent crime had occurred within the vehicle. The car was then handed over to its insurer and placed in a scrapyard.

In a statement issued to The Drive, the scrapyard said it has put the Mondial up for display because of all the interest in it.

“We have put the car for display at our company for now. There is a lot of interest in the car. Both complete and for parts. The thing is that we are not allowed to sell the car complete. However, when it could go to a museum, the government will make an exception, and allows us to sell the car complete. When [sic] we can’t find a museum willing to display the car, we are forced to dismantle the car in parts. Most parts can’t be used on a other car, but a lot of collectors are willing to buy parts for collectables, or to transform them into furniture. Like the engine, they want to fix up and turn it into a table with a glass plate on top of it.”

Ferrari 812 Superfast Is An Ode To V12-Powered Supercars

Written by admin

The days of the traditional internal combustion engines are numbered, and electrification and other alternative fuels are the future. When they eventually go out for good, though, the automotive world will look back at some of the most iconic models, like the Ferrari 812 Superfast, which sits at the top of the Prancing Horse’s range.

Succeeding the F12 Berlinetta, it is a two-seater grand tourer with a front mid-engine layout and rear-wheel drive. It has a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 under that very long hood that pumps out 789 HP (800 PS / 588 kW) and 530 lb-ft (718 Nm) of torque. The 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) is dispatched in just 2.9 seconds, and even though it feels like it can hit warp speed, it will eventually run out of breath at 211 mph (340 km/h), and there are very few places on our planet where one can reach such speeds safely and legally.

It may be billed as a GT, but the 812 Superfast is actually more of a supercar. It certainly has the numbers on its side, aided by the advanced aerodynamics, firm suspension and even rear-wheel steering that makes the wheelbase feel shorter than it actually is. The 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission features short and fast gear changes and the very sharp steering contributes to the unique experience provided by the car. The safety systems have your back in case you are too overenthusiastic on the controls and can get you out of some very serious situations.

The interior looks just as driver-focused as the exterior, with everything bathed in high-quality materials. The traditional controls are a fingertip away, as most of them can be found on the steering wheel, and even the passenger is included in this magic as they have a secondary screen right in front of them that displays the traveling speed, G-force readout and so on. The comfort part is not neglected either, as it features cup holders, USB ports and smartphone integration.

The 812 Superfast may have a bold name, but it is one bold ride that impressed Rory Reid, who got the chance to drive it shortly after the lockdown in the UK ended. What did he have to say about it? Quite a lot of things, but that’s for you to find out by watching the following video.

DMC’s Ferrari 812 Superfast Looks Like A Scale Model, But It’s An 808 HP Beast

Written by admin

DMC claims to have made a splash a few years ago with a body kit for the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. Now, with the supercar replaced by the newer 812 Superfast, the German tuner has added it to its portfolio as well.

The most striking upgrade of the pictured example by far is the custom paintjob. It’s called the Starshine Blue, it mixes Modena’s Azzurro with metallic glitter and kind of makes it look like a scale model – at least in the images.

The visual work continues with the new aerodynamic package, which adds a prominent front splitter, new side skirts and boot lid spoiler, and also includes tinted taillights and new wheels, 21 inches at the front and 22 inches at the rear, which have replaced the 20-inch OEMs. Although bigger, they are some of the lightest on the market, according to the tuner, which offers them in a variety of shades, shod in 255/30 front and 335/25 rear Pirelli tires.

Rounding up the design of the tuned 812 Superfast are the sport springs, and since we’ve moved on to the technical revisions, it’s worth noting that a titanium exhaust system is also part of the build. This, along with a software remap, allows the 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 to pump out 808 HP (820 PS / 603 kW), up from the standard 789 HP (800 PS / 588 kW).

The stock Italian supercar needs only 2.9 seconds to sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) and can keep pushing up to 211 mph (340 km/h). DMC didn’t disclose an acceleration time but said that, with their upgrade, the top speed has increased to almost 217 mph (350 km/h).
