Slammed 2021 Cadillac Escalade Required Much More Than A Set Of Lowering Springs

Written by admin

It is quite a common sight to see modified Cadillac Escalades roaming the streets in the States. However, this is the first heavily-modified 2021 Escalade that we’ve come across.

The latest-generation Escalade is one of the most luxurious SUVs currently on the market with a price tag that can exceed $100,000 for a flagship model. Evidently, the Escalade’s value didn’t dissuade the owner of this example from equipping it with a host of modifications.

This example is owned by a guy named Jake McKiddie who was recently interviewed for the Ridiculous Rides series on the Barcroft Cars YouTube channel. It may simply look like a lowered Escalade but much more work has gone into it than fitting a set of lowering springs.

Images from the build show that the chassis was completely removed from the SUV and totally rebuilt. It has also been equipped with 30×9 front and 30×11-inch rear wheels and an air suspension system that means it can be dropped so low that both the front and rear bumpers actually hit the ground. A set of enlarged Wilwood brakes have also been installed to better complement the massive 30-inch wheels.

Significant changes had to be made to the SUV’s interior to make this all work. In fact, a large chunk of the trunk is now taken up by the pronounced wheel wells, dramatically reducing cargo space. However, from the second row forwards, the interior of this Escalade is relatively stock.

Ford F-150 Tuned By Roush Lines Up Against A Ram 1500 TRX

Written by admin

The Ram 1500 TRX has established itself as the king of combustion-powered pickup trucks but can a Ford F-150 modified by Roush give it a run for its money?

To try and answer that question, the duo were pitted against each other for a series of drag races. After reading their specs, it doesn’t take a genius to guess which truck comes out on top.

Powering the TRX is a 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 with 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. This engine drives all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission and in ideal conditions, the truck can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 4 seconds. By comparison, the Ford F-150 tuned by Roush has a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with 650 hp and 610 lb-ft that’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Off the line, the Ram has a significant advantage and walks away from the Ford without breaking a sweat. This result is replicated in each of the other races, both from a standing start and from a roll.

Admittedly, this isn’t really a fair fight as the F-150 tested is a previous-generation model. The fairest comparison would involve the TRX being pitted against a tuned version of the new F-150 Raptor. With enough power, Hennessey Performance has already proven that a modified new F-150 can out-accelerate the TRX.

Manhart Is Offering A Tuned Tesla Model 3 Performance With 543 HP And A Grille Decal For $90k

Written by admin

German tuner Manhart is known for tuning performance models most often from BMW and MINI, occasionally from Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, or Lamborghini, and more rarely from Land Rover and Toyota. However, they recently decided it was time to move on to the electric era by tuning a Tesla Model 3. Besides the visual modifications, the fully electric sedan got a lowered suspension and a soft power boost. The tuned car is offered by Manhart for €74,900 which, at current exchange rates, translates to $88,768.

Manhart chose the flagship Tesla Model 3 Performance as a base for their tuning package. The German tuner added a set of red and grey stripe decals on the bonnet, trunk, and above the side sills, with matching red accents on the mirrors. While those look sporty enough, Manhart added another one on the front bumper with a honeycomb pattern resembling a grille.

At the front, there is also a bumper extension made of carbon fiber. Thankfully Manhart didn’t complete the look with fake exhaust pipes like other tuners have done in the past. Finally, the windows are tinted for extra privacy and to hide the completely stock and minimalist Tesla interior, although Manhart is offering tuning options for those who are interested.

The TM3 700, as they call it, is also fitted with 21-inch Baracuda wheels finished in platinum grey, shod in 235/30 R21 tires. The wheels give the Model 3 a powerful stance, especially when combined with the lowered suspension, courtesy of H&R springs for improved handling.

Manhart also developed the MHTronik Powerbox that extracts more juice from the dual motors of the already quite powerful Tesla Model 3 Performance. As a result, the electric powertrain produces a combined 543 hp (405 kW / 550 PS) and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque transmitted to all four wheels. This is a healthy hp 37 hp (27 kW / 37 PS) and 60 Nm (44 lb-ft) boost over the stock model and we guess the effects in performance would be noticeable. As for the battery, the TME 720 uses the stock 82 kWh lithium-ion unit.

Given that the stock Tesla Model 3 Performance costs €54,990 ($65,162) in Europe, the €74,900 ($88,768) Manhart is asking for the TM3 700 represents a €20k premium, which is quite a lot for the extent of the upgrades. However, the rarity of the vehicle might be attractive to those who want to stand out from the crowd.

Cadillac Won’t Make An Estate Version Of The CT5-V Blackwing, But You Can Have This CTS-V Wagon Instead

Written by admin

As impressive as the new Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is, we think the fact that it isn’t available as a wagon is a pity. Fortunately, anyone wanting a high-performance Cadillac combined with the practicality of a wagon can buy something like this on the used car market.

The Cadillac CTS-V Wagon you’re looking at is a 2013 model and while that means it has some outdated technology compared to the CT5-V Blackwing, it still offers heaps of power. In fact, this particular example has been extensively modified and dyno graphs included in the Bring a Trailer listing confirm it has 781 hp at the rear wheels and 750 lb-ft (1,016 Nm) of torque.

Upgrades made to the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 include an Airaid intake system, American Racing long-tube headers, GM Performance three-bolt cam gear, BTR Stage 3 camshaft, BTR timing chain, BTR valve springs with titanium retainers, BTR trunnion kit, a D3 Crank-mount boost pulley kit, Innovators West lower balance, new spark plug wires, ported throttle body, aftermarket fuel pumps, new fuel injectors, and the ability to run on E85.

The exterior of the car is clad in Black Diamond Tricoat paint and it has been upgraded with a carbon fiber splitter and carbon hood. It also sits on 20-inch wheels from Vossen with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

As with any CTS-V Wagon, the cabin is comfortable for a family and includes heated and ventilated Recaro front seats clad in Ebony leather. The cabin also features dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, navigation, and a custom Audison audio system with a 1,000-watt amplifier.

The listing confirms the car has only been driven 26,000 miles (~41,800 km) and since Cadillac won’t make a CT5-V Blackwing Wagon, this remains the next best thing.

850 HP BMW M2 Competition Goes Ballistic On The Autobahn

Written by admin

The BMW M2 Competition is one of the finest sports cars built by BMW in recent years.

Powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, the M2 Competition pumps out 405 hp as standard, more than enough for a car that is significantly smaller than the M3 and M4. However, quite a few owners decided they wanted more out of the M2 Competition’s S55 engine, and this particular example pumps out no less than 850 hp.

This M2 Competition has been brought to life by HC-Performance and to put it through its paces, AutoTopNL headed onto an open stretch of the German Autobahn for some performance testing. As you would imagine, the car builds up speed at an incredible rate and looks to be quite easy to drive at its limits.

The clip doesn’t mention any acceleration times for the car but it appears to run from 62 mph to 124 mph (100-200 km/h) in roughly 4.5 seconds. The car has the available automatic transmission as opposed to the six-speed manual the M2 is also available with but nevertheless, we’re sure it is heaps of fun to drive, even though the aftermarket suspension does appear to create quite a bumpy ride.

BMW is currently in the midst of developing the next-generation M2. It is understood that the car will also feature a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder but be upgraded to around 480 hp, meaning it will almost have as much grunt as the new 473 hp M3/M4, but less than the duo’s 503 hp versions.

Hennessey’s Mammoth 900 TRX Sends 728 HP To The Rear Wheels

Written by admin

No matter how powerful and fast a vehicle may be from the factory, it will never be enough for the folks from Hennessy Performance. Case in point, the tuner’s 2021 Ram 1500 TRX-based Mammoth 900.

As standard, the 1500 TRX comes outfitted with a 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 pumping out 702 hp and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque. Not only does this make the TRX the most powerful pickup of its kind, but it also means the truck can out-accelerate some very impressive sports cars.

In tuning the truck Hennessey has equipped it with a lower pulley and upper pulley upgrade, fitted a ported supercharger snout, high-flow fuel injectors, high-flow air induction system and crank-case ventilation system, and tweaked the ECU. On paper, these modifications result in 912 hp and 873 lb-ft (1,184 Nm) of torque at the crank. Translated to the wheels, this results in 728 hp and 679 lb-ft (921 Nm).

For those after even more performance, Hennessey offers a Mammoth 1000 upgrade package that delivers 1,012 hp and 969 lb-ft (1,314 Nm) of torque and sports a new supercharger, stainless steel headers, and a high-flow exhaust, in addition to the upgrades of the Mammoth 900.

As impressive as all that sounds, Hennessey won’t stop there. In fact, it is creating a 6×6 version of the Ram 1500 TRX complete with Mopar’s 7.0-liter Hellephant V8 crate engine tweaked to produce 1,200 hp.

ABT Sportsline Upgrades 2021 Cupra Formentor To 365 HP

Written by admin

ABT Sportsline specializes in tuning VW Group vehicles and has just added the Cupra Formentor to its portfolio.

Thanks to a new engine control unit, the German tuner has increased the turbocharged 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder’s output by 60 PS (59 HP / 44 kW) and 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) of torque, for a total of 370 PS (365 HP / 272 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft). With this upgrade, the 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint has, according to ABT, dropped from 4.9 to 4.6 seconds, while top speed is still limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).

An ABT exhaust system, which enhances the soundtrack and features 102 mm (4 in) tailpipes, is also available for the Formentor. Another option is a spring kit for the active suspension that lowers the ground clearance by up to 35 mm (1.4 in), while still leaving room under the arches for the new wheels.

The Formentor pictured here sits on the tuner’s 20-inch Sport GR alloys, with a diamond-machined surface. The wheels are optionally available in matte black too, and if the pattern does not suit your taste, ABT also offers its 20-inch FR and 19-inch DR and ER-C rims.

For the time being, no other parts for the Cupra Formentor can be found on the tuner’s catalogue, but we reckon they could also launch a few exterior and interior upgrades in the future.

This Poorly Executed Nissan GT-R Replica Won’t Fool Anyone

Written by admin

The R35-generation Nissan GT-R dates back to late 2017 and while it still offers superb performance, its design has started to feel dated. Clearly, that hasn’t dissuaded the owner of this… ahem, ‘GT-R’.

We’re not sure where exactly this was spotted but it seems to be somewhere in Asia. While its owner would have you believe that it’s an oddly-modified GT-R, anyone familiar with the Godzilla will instantly notice that this thing is a rather poorly executed replica.

The modifications made to the car are so extensive it’s difficult to determine what model this replica is based on. Whatever it is, it is obviously much smaller than a GT-R, as evidenced by the very short wheelbase and the weird proportions.

Up front, we can see the owner of the car has equipped it with a front bumper and grille that kinda look similar to that of the actual item. Elsewhere, the car is rocking a front-mounted intercooler, although based on all the other modifications made, we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just for show and not actually functional.

Other GT-R-inspired modifications include the headlights, hood and doors. The owner has even gone to the trouble of trying to replicate the sharp roofline of the Japanese sports car. There’s also a wing just like the GT-R’s at the rear, as the Reddit photo shows.

Overfinch Celebrates Five Years In America With $315,000 Range Rover Sandringham Edition

Written by admin

The Land Rover Range Rover has lost some of its luster thanks to newer competitors such as the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

While the company is working on an all-new model which promises to be even more luxurious, Overfinch has unveiled the new Sandringham Edition which is based on the current long-wheelbase Range Rover Autobiography.

Designed to celebrate the company’s 5th anniversary in North America, the Sandringham Edition has been equipped with a carbon fiber body kit which includes a sportier front bumper with larger air intakes and LED daytime running lights. The model also has a carbon fiber grille, carbon fiber front fender vents and 22-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels.

The changes don’t stop there as the luxury SUV has been outfitted with a carbon fiber spoiler and a sportier rear bumper with a prominent diffuser. The model also has a variable stainless steel exhaust system as well as a Nebula Black paint job which features purple flecks that “create a stunning, sophisticated hue in direct light.”

While the Range Rover Autobiography is already luxurious, Overfinch upped the ante by installing Capiz White diamond quilted leather with contrast micro-piping and stitching. There’s also a matching leather headliner as well as Argento pinstripe veneers and contrasting Calluna leather accents.

Rounding out the highlights are deep-pile sheepskin floor mats, illuminated sill plates and a knurled interior touchpack. There’s also subtle Overfinch branding as well as individual rear seats.

Production will be limited to five units and pricing starts at $315,000 before taxes. That’s a lot, but Overfinch North America Vice President Alex Sloane noted “This is a statement vehicle that is confident in its luxury and elegant in its execution.” He added, “The overall aesthetic is unique and stunning – a genuine special edition.”

Want To Turn Your Tesla Model 3 Into A Quasi Off-Roader?

Written by admin

A German company named Delta 4×4 that’s located just outside Munich, Germany has made a Tesla Model 3 unlike any other.

Recently, the tuning company received a request from a Model 3 owner in Norway asking for some off-roading abilities to be added to the electric sedan.

To make this happen, Delta 4×4 fitted a 35 mm lift kit costing €480 ($548) and then slotted on a set of custom wheels that measure 18×8.5 at all four corners. The black wheels may look familiar as they are the same style of wheels that the famous Tesla Model 3 pickup, better known as ‘Truckla’, that was created by Simone Giertz, was fitted with last year.

These wheels have then been wrapped in mud-terrain tires from Cooper that thanks to a taller sidewall, result in the Model 3 having 40 mm of additional ground clearance.

Looking through Delta 4×4’s social media accounts, it looks as though it has fitted a small handful of Model 3s with its lift kit and wheel and tire package.

While the entry-level Tesla sedan is no Toyota Land Cruiser or Suzuki Jimny when it comes to tackling difficult terrain, the fact that most are all-wheel drive certainly helps it with its off-road credentials. In the video below, the car can be seen making it up a slippery hill with very little fuss.
