Florida Could Suspend Carvana’s Dealer License For Not Submitting Title Applications

Written by admin

Florida could suspend Carvana’s dealer license after it has failed to transfer the titles of some vehicles sold.

Carvana was reportedly notified of the issues in an email sent by Florida authorities last week. This email is said to have included a spreadsheet that showed 300 Carvana vehicle sales dating back to 2019 that had not had their titles transferred. More than 100 of these vehicle sales occurred in Florida.

State law in Florida requires retailers to apply for a title within 30 days of completing a sale. Speaking with Auto News, a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles said Carvana has until January 31 to submit title applications for all the vehicles it sold in 2021 before December 1.

“The department has been proactively working with Carvana to identify and assist Florida customers who have not received their title in a timely manner, and in accordance with state law,” the spokesperson added. “Florida law allows for the suspension of the dealer’s license if they fail to apply for a transfer of title in a timely manner.”

This isn’t the first time Carvana has been scrutinized for not delivering titles in time. Earlier this year it settled with Florida regulators and agreed to pay $500 each to 12 customers who had to wait three to eight months to receive titles on vehicles they purchased. In August, Carvana had its dealer license suspended for 180 days in Wake County, North Carolina for not producing titles fast enough, among other issues.

Carvana sold 244,111 vehicles in the U.S. last year, making it the country’s second-largest retailer of used vehicles. A spokeswoman from the company says Carvana has applied for around 23,500 titles in Florida over the past 12 months.

Audi’s 1980 Quattro An AWD Pioneer? This Jensen FF Be Like “Hold My Brandy”

Written by admin

Audi’s 1980 Quattro coupe changed the course of road- and rally car history, no doubt about it. Within four years every top-tier WRC had switched to all-wheel drive, and more than four decades later most high performance cars available off the showroom floor still follow the Quattro’s template of turbocharged power and all-wheel drive traction.

But the Quattro wasn’t the first high performance all-wheel drive coupe. Fourteen years before the Audi burst onto the scene, fans of British sports car brand Jensen were already discovering the benefits of divvying up a big wedge of torque between four wheels, rather than just two.

The car in question was the 1966 Jensen FF, those two letters standing for Ferguson Formula, Ferguson Research being the people behind the all-wheel drive system. If you’ve not heard of the FF but think this big GT looks strangely familiar, you’re probably thinking of its more famous Jensen Interceptor brother.

The two share plenty, including big-block Chrysler V8 power, a 727 Torqueflite auto, that huge goldfish-bowl rear window and the fact that they were hideously expensive when new, costing even more than an Aston Martin DB6.

But the FF’s wheelbase was stretched by half a foot to accommodate the all-wheel drive hardware (you can tell it from an Interceptor by the second vent behind the front wheel) that sent 37 percent of the V8s torque to the front wheels. The FF even had an early form of mechanical anti-lock braking.

Unfortunately, its high price and packaging problems stymieing left-hand drive production killed it off in 1971, leaving the rear-drive Interceptor to carry on alone for five more years. And while the FF was praised by reviewers when new, the idea of a high performance all-wheel drive coupe lay dormant for most of the following decade.

The slice of all-wheel drive history pictured here is coming up for sale in November through Silverstone Auctions. It’s a 1971 car that has been dry stored since receiving a detailed restoration in 2004 and is claimed to be in excellent condition. You’d hope as much given that it’s likely to sell for upwards of $180,000 (£130,000), though that’s less than half what you’d pay to get into an Aston DB6.

No, You’re Aren’t Seeing Double; This Is An Extra Wide 1994 Ram 3500

Written by admin

This is a 1997 Dodge Ram 3500 but do you notice something a little different with it? Well, this 3500 has been widened by a foot, making an already big and imposing pickup truck even more massive.

The bizarre truck is currently up for sale on Craigslist in Spokane Valley, Washington and according to the seller, more than 1,400 hours of work were put into it. The listing doesn’t detail how the 3500 was widened but we can’t imagine it was particularly easy.

The extra width is immediately obvious from the front end where the grilles of the truck are much wider than standard. A two-piece windshield has also been fitted and located directly behind the cabin is a truly big bed, likely larger than any other pickup currently on sale.

Various interior modifications have also been made. For example, there is now an absolutely massive center console wrapped in leather. The cabin has also been equipped with a TV screen in the rear.

In terms of mechanicals, the truck is powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins diesel V8 coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the truck has a solid front axle with link-coil suspension, a solid rear axle with longitudinal leaf springs, a stainless steel exhaust system, front stabilizer bar, heavy-duty shocks, and a 35-gallon fuel tank.

The truck has been listed for $31,999. That’s quite a lot of money, but isn’t entirely unreasonable given all the work performed on the vehicle.

Manhart Is Offering A Tuned Tesla Model 3 Performance With 543 HP And A Grille Decal For $90k

Written by admin

German tuner Manhart is known for tuning performance models most often from BMW and MINI, occasionally from Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, or Lamborghini, and more rarely from Land Rover and Toyota. However, they recently decided it was time to move on to the electric era by tuning a Tesla Model 3. Besides the visual modifications, the fully electric sedan got a lowered suspension and a soft power boost. The tuned car is offered by Manhart for €74,900 which, at current exchange rates, translates to $88,768.

Manhart chose the flagship Tesla Model 3 Performance as a base for their tuning package. The German tuner added a set of red and grey stripe decals on the bonnet, trunk, and above the side sills, with matching red accents on the mirrors. While those look sporty enough, Manhart added another one on the front bumper with a honeycomb pattern resembling a grille.

At the front, there is also a bumper extension made of carbon fiber. Thankfully Manhart didn’t complete the look with fake exhaust pipes like other tuners have done in the past. Finally, the windows are tinted for extra privacy and to hide the completely stock and minimalist Tesla interior, although Manhart is offering tuning options for those who are interested.

The TM3 700, as they call it, is also fitted with 21-inch Baracuda wheels finished in platinum grey, shod in 235/30 R21 tires. The wheels give the Model 3 a powerful stance, especially when combined with the lowered suspension, courtesy of H&R springs for improved handling.

Manhart also developed the MHTronik Powerbox that extracts more juice from the dual motors of the already quite powerful Tesla Model 3 Performance. As a result, the electric powertrain produces a combined 543 hp (405 kW / 550 PS) and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque transmitted to all four wheels. This is a healthy hp 37 hp (27 kW / 37 PS) and 60 Nm (44 lb-ft) boost over the stock model and we guess the effects in performance would be noticeable. As for the battery, the TME 720 uses the stock 82 kWh lithium-ion unit.

Given that the stock Tesla Model 3 Performance costs €54,990 ($65,162) in Europe, the €74,900 ($88,768) Manhart is asking for the TM3 700 represents a €20k premium, which is quite a lot for the extent of the upgrades. However, the rarity of the vehicle might be attractive to those who want to stand out from the crowd.

Cadillac Won’t Make An Estate Version Of The CT5-V Blackwing, But You Can Have This CTS-V Wagon Instead

Written by admin

As impressive as the new Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is, we think the fact that it isn’t available as a wagon is a pity. Fortunately, anyone wanting a high-performance Cadillac combined with the practicality of a wagon can buy something like this on the used car market.

The Cadillac CTS-V Wagon you’re looking at is a 2013 model and while that means it has some outdated technology compared to the CT5-V Blackwing, it still offers heaps of power. In fact, this particular example has been extensively modified and dyno graphs included in the Bring a Trailer listing confirm it has 781 hp at the rear wheels and 750 lb-ft (1,016 Nm) of torque.

Upgrades made to the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 include an Airaid intake system, American Racing long-tube headers, GM Performance three-bolt cam gear, BTR Stage 3 camshaft, BTR timing chain, BTR valve springs with titanium retainers, BTR trunnion kit, a D3 Crank-mount boost pulley kit, Innovators West lower balance, new spark plug wires, ported throttle body, aftermarket fuel pumps, new fuel injectors, and the ability to run on E85.

The exterior of the car is clad in Black Diamond Tricoat paint and it has been upgraded with a carbon fiber splitter and carbon hood. It also sits on 20-inch wheels from Vossen with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

As with any CTS-V Wagon, the cabin is comfortable for a family and includes heated and ventilated Recaro front seats clad in Ebony leather. The cabin also features dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, navigation, and a custom Audison audio system with a 1,000-watt amplifier.

The listing confirms the car has only been driven 26,000 miles (~41,800 km) and since Cadillac won’t make a CT5-V Blackwing Wagon, this remains the next best thing.

2005 Corvette C6 From Lingenfelter Is A Mean, 665 HP Machine

Written by admin

The exterior designs of the C7 and C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette are quite radical compared to their predecessors but if you want a ‘Vette with a slightly more classic shape, this example could be right up your alley.

Obviously, this isn’t just any old C6 Corvette. Instead, the car has been comprehensively modified by Lingenfelter to dramatically increase its performance.

The car’s standard 6.0-liter LS2 V8 has been modified by Lingenfelter Performance and fitted with an Edelbrock E-Force TVS 2300 supercharger, an air to water intercooler, ported LS2 cylinder heads, a Comp Cams GT9 camshaft, high-flow fuel injectors, a high-flow air intake, a 160-degree thermostat, and a stainless steel 2.5-inch exhaust with Corsa mufflers. It pumps out 665 hp which are sent to the rear wheels courtesy of a four-speed automatic transmission.

These modifications alone would be enough to make this Corvette special but the Supervettes ZR6X bodykit makes it stand out even further, giving the car a menacing stance on the road thanks to flared wheel arches, a ZR1 front splitter, vented hood, side skirts, a rear spoiler, and a new rear bumper and diffuser. The car also sits on staggered-width Forestar F14 20-inch forged wheels wrapped in 295/25 front and 345/25 rear Nitto Invo tires.

Elsewhere, a set of coilovers have been installed as have new front and rear swaybars and a camber kit. Braking is provided by Z06 six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers.

The car is listed up for auction through Bring A Trailer and has just 6,000 miles (~9,600 km) on the clock.

This 6800-Mile DeLorean Will Transport You Straight Back To 1985

Written by admin

If someone tasked you with finding them a pristine DMC 12 that had covered less than 7,000 miles in the hands of no more than two owners, you’d probably tell them to get busy finishing that time machine so you could go get one.

That’s because the last DeLoreans rolled off the Dunmurry line in Northern Ireland in 1982, meaning by the time the iconic time-travelling movie Back to the Future premiered in 1985, most of the 9200 cars built would have already passed 7000 miles – and, in the time since, passed through a few pairs of hands.

But not the car pictured here, which is being offered for sale at the Bonhams Amelia Island Auction later this month. Understood to have originally been bought by a couple who lived in Manhattan, the DMC 12 was kept in the suburbs of the city at the owner’s parents’ home during the week, only coming out to play at weekends and during holidays.

As a result, the DeLorean racked up very few miles, and by the 1990s the owners realized they had something pretty special on their hands. In fact, this DMC12 is more special than most because it’s the less common five-speed manual version. Most DeLoreans paired their PRV (Peugeot-Renault-Volvo) 2.85-liter V6 with a three-speed auto.

Related: Italdesign Teases What Looks Like A Modern-Day DeLorean DMC-12

Those two extra ratios don’t turn the DeLorean into a supercar. Because the DMC 12 effectively had two sets of body panels – a fibreglass inner body plus a stainless steel outer skin – it was heavy, and the emissions-spec Federalized engine made just 130 hp. Zero to 62mph took almost 10 seconds, which was nothing special even in the early 1980s, and makes the obligatory “Outatime” BTTF license plates seem even more pertinent.

But Bonhams suggests only 6500 of the 9200 cars produced are still on the road, and it’s unlikely you’ll find another one in this condition and spec outside of a museum. It’s not a box-fresh restored car, but a nicely preserved, slightly grubby original that shows a welcome patina from gentle use – just like the one you might have picked up at used car lot back in 1985.

2K-Mile 2013 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Is An Exhilarating Drive

Written by admin

Sure, the C6-generation Chevrolet Corvette may not have quite the allure of the mid-engined C8, but in ZR1 guise, it is still a superb value proposition for the performance it provides.

The Corvette ZR1 in question is a 2013 model and while it is almost a decade old, it has only been driven 2,000 miles (3,200 km). The car is listed up for auction through Bring A Trailer and was one of 482 ZR1s built for the 2013 model year and one of just 27 finished in Crystal Red Metallic.

Contrasting the red paint are chrome-finished 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels clad in the original 285/30 and 335/25 Michelin Pilot Sport tires respectively. The car also rocks a carbon fiber hood, roof, fenders, floor panels, side skirts, and front splitter.

A peek inside the cabin reveals Cashmere leather on the center of the seats and across parts of the dashboard and door panels. The ‘Vette also features various black leather components and is equipped with the 3ZR Premium Equipment Group that includes power-adjustable and heated sport seats, a memory package, Bose audio, navigation, Bluetooth, dual-zone automatic climate control, a head-up display, and cruise control.

Powering the C6 Corvette ZR1 is a supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8 pumping out 638 hp and 604 lb-ft (819 Nm) of torque that’s mated to a six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential.

In The Market For A Slightly Used Vehicle? Check Out These Models With The Biggest Savings

Written by admin

It’s no secret that buying used can save you money, but is that still true now that used car prices are up?

iSeeCars’ latest study aimed to find out and the answer is unsurprising yes. However, your saving will vary greatly depending on what model you’re in the market for.

According to the study, the average one-year old vehicle costs 17% less than a new one. However, the price difference varies from as little as a 2.1% difference to as much as a 36.4% difference.

Also Read: These Are The Most Popular Used Vehicles In America

The Tesla Model 3 had the smallest price difference as buying a one-year old model will only save customers $923, which is a difference of 2.1%. Following closely behind was the Toyota Tacoma, which is 4.2% cheaper used for a savings of $1,557. Rounding out the top five are the Kia Telluride ($2,456), Ford Ranger ($2,416) and Jeep Gladiator ($3,373). These relatively modest savings mean customers are likely better off buying new.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, some vehicles depreciate like a rock and that means buying used can save you over $20,000. That’s the case with the BMW 5-Series which is 36.4% cheaper used for a saving of $24,207. The Hyundai Sonata is also a one-year old bargain as prices drop 36.1% for a savings of $9,898.

Other models with big savings after a year are the Infiniti Q50 ($16,322), Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross ($8,041) and Ford Mustang Convertible ($13,422). Unsurprisingly, a number of vehicles on the ‘best to buy used list’ are sedans and luxury cars. Sedans have fallen out of favor with crossover obsessed consumers, while luxury vehicles are ripe for depreciation.

In the end, it really comes down to what you want and how flexible you can be. iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer also noted, “While buying used typically provides upfront cost savings compared to buying new, sometimes used vehicles only offer minimal savings, especially when finance rates and rebates on new models are taken into account.”

Would You Splurge $10,000 On A 4K-Mile 1996 Saturn SL?

Written by admin

Saturn was a quirky automaker that billed itself as a “different kind of car company.”

Designed to battle imports, the GM brand was best known for no haggle pricing and using plastic body panels. While Saturn was axed over a decade ago, one of the lowest mileage SL sedans is currently listed on eBay.

Showing just 3,800 miles (6,115 km) on the odometer, this 1996 SL is an automotive time machine. While it looks virtually brand new, there are a few issues including a scratched front bumper and a “small clear coat imperfection” on the rear spoiler. That being said, the underbody appears to be completely devoid of rust.

Moving into the plastic fantastic interior, there are two-tone fabric seats which are in good condition but definitely old school. While the listing is light on specifics, the model appears to have air conditioning, power windows and locks and a cassette player.

Under the hood, there’s a 1.9-liter twin-cam 16 valve four-cylinder engine. This means the model has the ‘performance’ engine which developed 124 hp (92 kW / 126 PS) and 122 lb-ft (165 Nm) of torque. It’s pair to a five-speed manual which sends power to the front wheels.

While 124 hp (92 kW / 126 PS) isn’t much these days, the seller says the car is in “great mechanical shape” and has been “started and used a few times a week since new.” The listing also says the car has been outfitted with new tires and a sunroof assembly as well as a new headliner.

While it’s unusual to see a Saturn with such low mileage, the listing says the car was an engineering and development vehicle for Zexel. The GM supplier reportedly used the car to calibrate their wind tunnel for testing and kept using it until around 2017.

After the company was done with the car, they reportedly held an in-house auction where it was bought by an employee. As a result, the 25-year-old vehicle was first registered in 2019.

It can now be yours for $9,999 (£7,279 / €8,298), which is roughly ten times as much as your typical 1996 Saturn SL.
